Your
own private island,
Peter
Island has resort
activities and
seclusion. Crow's Nest Villa is
seen here up on its own perch. |

Breakfast of
banana french toast with tamarind
syrup. A "doubles" sea kayaking
adventure. Snorkeling or windsurfing in Deadman's
Bay. Or your choice of Hobie, sunfish or
laser sailing. Tennis, basketball or volleyball.
A hike or mountain bike trip
along Big
Reef Bay or other trails (see map).
Or simply a workout at the fitness center and spa
(massage therapy is extra). |
Crow's
Nest Villa sits atop
the hillock enclosing the vista at
Deadman's Bay Beach, close to activities but in
its own private world, with four
bedrooms, swimming pool, maid, gardener, personal
steward, and island vehicle. |
On
the beach at Deadman's
Beach Bar & Grill, a simple lunch of coconut
shrimp and salad. Quiet reading at the
library or in the shade of a thatched umbrella on
the beach. A horticulture tour along the
botanical trail. Or a packed gourmet
picnic lunch and van ride to White Bay
beach on the other side of the island. Or take
the Caribbean version of British tea
each afternoon with, perhaps, mango
iced tea and carrot bread. |
Beach
Front Suites, beautiful stone
and wood structures carved into the rugged bluff
over Deadman's Bay, have upper units with
balconies and great views and
lower units with private terraces
that open right onto the beach (all have
palm-tied hammocks). These 20 rooms are spacious
with a sitting area with sofa and chair, desk,
large walk in closet and a big bathroom with a
shower and a romantic deep tub.
|
King
size beds and both ceiling
fans and air conditioning are in all
resort accommodations. Rooms have been recently
retiled and redecorated with bright prints, new
draperies and French doors. Each
room has a mini-bar, coffee maker, telephone,
clock radio, hair dryer, and bathrobes. See this insightful
review by Lynn McKamey and Ron Molnar's Family

Ocean
& Garden View Rooms.
Surprising indeed are the dramatic modern A-frame
silhouettes of these picturesque
chalets shipped in from Norway. The
Ocean & Garden View rooms are near the
reception and dining room area overlooking Sprat
Bay yacht harbor on one side. On the other side
is a stunning free-form pool set in a tropical
garden. And on every side are unqiue
views framed by the small mountains and seascape
beyond. |
Designed
with a tropical flair, these large rooms
have a sitting area with two chairs and a table,
ample closet space with with full bathrooms and a
shower/tub. The 16 lower Garden View rooms have a
sun parlor and shaded private
patio while the 16 upper Ocean View rooms have cathedral
ceilings with exposed beams and
balcony-style verandahs with great views across
the Sir Francis Drake Channel to Tortola in the
distance, especially the twinkling lights of Road
Town in the evening. |
Five
Course Dinner at the famous Tradewinds
restaurant from its menu (slacks and collared
shirts for men). Fresh snapper
filled with spinach and herbs, wrapped in rice
paper and served with mango and black bean salsa
for just the main course! The excellent wine list
is extra of course as well as Caribbean rum and
Cuban cigar tastings. Nightly movies and
weekly managers' cocktail party. Dance
under the stars to live entertainment
most nights in season. West Indian buffet with a live
steel drum band every Sunday afternoon.
All of the above is included in the rates and
packages at Peter Island Resort, shared with not
more than guests in 52 rooms/suites and 3 villas. |
