Along the Sir Francis Drake Channel side of Tortola's
coast and close to the Airport, Maya Cove is a protected enclave behind its reef and Buck
Island.
Hodges Creek Marina. This marina, in Maya Cove, also called Hodges Creek, has all yachtsman services, studio apartments, the Calamaya restaurant, a supermarket, the Ample Hamper provisioners, Blue Water Divers, Sunsail Yacht Charters (see Tortola Rates and Boat Specs here), Sun/Stardust Yacht Charters and Freedom Yacht Charters. Dining. The architecture fuses ancient Roman temple designs expressed in muted West Indian colors. A member of that eclectic family of Italian restaurants including the Brandywine and Capriccio di Mare, Calamaya might be called a West Indian and Italian seafood restaurant. Lunch features lobster and pasta pizza, a Cubana Grilled Sandwich with shrimp, ham, pineapple and cheese, flying fish sandwiches, and beef wraps. Dinner starts with a unique Island Fruit Fritters appetiser and finishes with Banana Ravioli for desert. Entrees include New York Strip Steak in a tamarind barbecue sauce, jerk chicken and pastas like Black Fettuccine of Lobster in a Tomato and Cream Sauce. The West Indian Roast Pork comes from a suckling pig roasted on a spit visible through a display window to the kitchen. Pelican Roost (495-1515), open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has hearty fare and a casual ambiance right on the waterfront at Tropic Island Marina. Lodging. |
