Accommodations
are located by island in the
British Virgin Islands, from the main islands of Tortola
and Virgin
Gorda, to lesser outlying islands
like Anegada,
Jost Van Dyke, Cooper
Island, Peter Island,
and Guana
Island, to small locales like Necker
Island and Marina
Cay. |
Intimate
low-rise structures prevail in the
BVI due to its policy of having no
building taller than a palm tree. Hence,
we focus here on the resulting small
resorts, inns and
guesthouses of the BVI, with the
emphasis on the natural beauty
of the island environment.
|
In
addition, there are many fantastic
villas in the islands which we have
described separately for the main islands of
Tortola and Virgin Gorda, under Tortola
Villas and Villas of Virgin
Gorda. Look under Outlying
Islands for villas there. Also, note
that in the BVI, a resort may consist partly or
wholly of villas.
Villa
generally refers to a detached family home, but
may describe a guesthouse or separate level
accommodation (a source of great bargains
for singles or couples!) as part of a
family compound, or even occasionally a duplex or
other multiple unit dwelling.
|
The
British Virgin Islands offer a
great variety of accommodations in all price
ranges. From luxury resorts
in the outlying islands to the
intriguing, economy-minded
oasis (with kitchenette), the BVIs
have it all.
|
Quaint
villas, each individually designed, big enough
for an extended family, are tucked into emerald
hillsides overlooking sparkling seas
(see Tortola
Villas). Resort marinas,
focused around water activities, are
popular, each one unique in character.
You
can be amid
the bustle of island activities or alone
with a secluded beach to yourself.
There are so many choices in the British Virgin
Islands.
