Day
Sails come in many types of boats, power and sail, time periods from the
more common all day or half day trip to starlight cruises for a couple of
hours. Snorkeling is often included. Meals may be included or stops
at out island restaurants. Group trips or special charters are available. Please
check for exact rates and other details.
Small Boat Rentals are widely
available, especially the popular center console powerboats, as well as
every other small water-engaged vehicle from dinghies to sea kayaks.
The Classic Daysail.
Goddess Athena,
(494-0000) a 84' traditional, custom-built ketch, is the largest excursion cruise
yacht in the BVI, with split level open decks, fitted upholstered seating, plenty
of sun AND shade, and special "Athena" cocktails on deck and in the luxuriously
appointed lounge below. Goddess Athena offers a variety of day and evening trips--"Lobster
Galore" gourmet cruises to
Jost Van Dyke, trips to the Cooper Island Beach Club, Marina Cay, the North Sound, and around Tortola, and especially its snorkeling
focus with instructors and equipment on board. Leaves from Nanny Cay.

Road Town. Also leaving from Road Town
offering day trips:
- The Patouche
II (email, call
494-6300 or reserve through your hotel), a highly regarded day sailing
catamaran features group (6-16) snorkeling trips, with instruction and underwater tours.
$52 for a half day and $82 for a full day with lunch.
- Cat PPALU (496-7716), the BVI's largest
catamaran with groups of 12-20, goes to Anegada (8:30 AM-6PM, $85 per person on
season) for snorkeling and a lobster lunch at Loblolly Bay on Saturdays and
sometimes Wednesdays. Sails also to The Baths and the Caves with lunch at restaurants or
onboard for $65 per person.
- White Squall
II (494-2564), a traditional 80' schooner which sails
at 9 AM from Village Cay Marina
in Road Town. Full day sail ($85, children 1/2 price) includes a barbeque lunch
with drinks.
- Dual Bliss
(email)--38'
catamaran with a maximum of six, offers out of the way snorkeling with fine cuisine. $90
($80 offseason. Also available for overnight trips.
- Silmaril--will
pick up at Road Town and environs--is based on Peter Island.
- Pelican
Charters (email
496-7386)--offers full and half day deep sea fishing on a 45' Chris Craft
out of Prospect Reef Resort (whose restaurant
will cook the catch). Also featured are Anegada overnight trips, in-island family
fishing with snorkeling, beach bargeques and island tours as well as whalewatching of humpback whales with
their calves from January through Mid-March.
- Road Town Small Boat Rentals
Power Boat Rentals (494-5511) has small power boats for rent.
- Peter Island Ferry (495-2000) to Peter Island
(schedule), is
free for those with dinner reservations. Otherwise the cost is
$14 per person each way.
From Soper's Hole
on the West End.
- Kuralu
(495-4381), a popular 50' catamaran, great for families
(there is safety netting around lifelines). One trip goes to Green Cay with a spinnaker
run to Foxy's at Jost Van Dyke, and the other trip goes to the Indians near
Norman Island and St. John's Benures Bay for snorkeling among the turtles. $80 (half price
for children).
- Soper's Hole Small Boat Rentals
Sheppard's Powerboat Rentals (495-4099) rents center console
23-26' Makos for $150-250 day (captain $85 extra). Also call about
water limo services.

- Boardsailing
BVI (495-2447 email) rents
windsurfers and sea kayaks, including singles ($100 a week), doubles ($145 a week) and sit
on tops with optional backrests.
Cane Garden Bay.
Small Boat Rentals
Cane Garden Bay Pleasure Boats (495-9660) rents 18-24' powerboats
for $135-275 including fuel, as well as canoes, kayaks, windsurfers, sunfish, and
Hobie Cats.
Maya Cove.

the Yacht Harbour of Virgin Gorda.
- The
Spirit of Anegada (496-6825 email), a 44' gaff
rigged schooner that is the official daysailor for Little Dix Bay Resort,
has full days ($85 including lunch), half-days ($55) and sunset cruises ($50) for up to 10
people to The Dogs, Necker Island and The Invisibles, Guana Island, The Rhone and Cooper
Island. Snorkeling equipment, beverages and powerboat pickups from Tortola are included.
Private charters are available for $550 per day for up to 20.
- M/V Sea Lion, (Dive BVI 495-5513, email), on
Tuesdays and Fridays, a 45' wave-piercing catamaran whisks 25 passengers at 23 knots twice
a week to Anegada for a day of snorkeling, beachcombing, and a local lobster lunch at the
Anegada Reef Hotel.
- The Bitter End Day Excursion ($36, $42 with taxi to Gun Creek) includes
lunch, a frozen drink, a snorkeling trip and showers as well as the use of the Bitter End
pool and beaches. Also, water sports rentals can be arranged at the Bitter End. An
exciting adventure!
- Sunset Euphoric Cruises (494-5511), a sunset cocktail cruise
catered by Little Dix from 4-6:30 PM for $30 with up to 20 people.
- Motorboat charter from Euphoric Cruises (4-5511) with
captain on a 28' Bentram powerboat.
- Yacht Harbour Small Boat Rentals
Power Boat Rentals, Inc. (494-5511) at the Yacht Harbour rent
small boats from a 13' Boston Whaler to a 24' Wellcraft
($250 day).
From North Sound
of Virgin Gorda.
- Spice (email 495-7044), a
51' sloop, offers fast sailing to Anegada and Cooper Island for snorkeling, lunch at
Loblolly Bay or cooper Island Beach Club (lunch onboard by request) everyday for $60
half/$85 full day (whole boat $600).
- Sea
Thru (email
495-7558), a 26' glass bottom boat, holds up to 12 passengers for one hour trips over
reefs for $20 adult/$12 child or $250 half/$400 full day.
- Prince of Wales (call Bitter End
at 494-2746), a 50' motor yacht with enclosed and upper decks, goes to Anegada
and The Baths for beach fun, snorkeling, and lunch Wednesdays and Fridays
9:30-5:30 PM for $40/$55 including lunch.
- Ponce de Leon (call Bitter End at
494-2746)--40' pontoon boat designed for snorkeling, trips to Eustatia Reef, $5/15 per person.
- Sea It All

495-7558), a 30 ft. Mappy Bertram, can be chartered for day trips and deep sea
fishing (pick ups anywhere).
- Princess (495-7248), a 31' Bertram,
offers sportfishing trips with Captain Dale out of Biras Creek.
- Pranda (call Bitter End at 494-2746), a
48' Spronk catamaran, does 20 knots doing blue water sailing--in the morning to The Baths
and the Dogs with snorkeling and beachcombing and, in the evening, toward Anegada for
sunset cruises with rum punches--from $40.
- Corinthian (call Bitter End at
494-2746), a 59' power catamaran, with a second upper deck for sightseeing and sunbathing,
takes up to 30 on blue water cruises with snorkeling and lunch on board.
- Other trips from the Bitter End (494-2746) include night snorkeling,
sunset or harbour cruises, seasonal whale watching, bonefishing and blue
water fishing and secluded beach cruises on a 26' speedboat.
- The Water Sports Centre (495-7376) at Leverick Bay has a trip to Anegada
or tour of the BVI on a 33' cigarette boat for $600 for 10 people.
- Bitter End Small Boat Rentals
Bitter End Yacht Club (494-2746) rents Mistral windsurfers, sea
kayaks, Alden rowing shells (great exercise and run--makes you feel like
a giant water buy, and the speed is impressive), sunfish, lasers, Vanguard 15s, Hobie
Waves, 405s, Optimists, 19' Rhodes, J24 sailboats (very fast), and 30'
Freedom sloops as well as Boston Whaler dinghies with outboard engines $50 half day.
- Leverick Bay Small Boat Rentals
The Water Sports Centre (495-7376) at Leverick Bay rents 12'
dinghies with outboard engines for $50/half and $60/full day and 22'
center console power boats for $225 plus fuel as well as kayaks, sunfish and
Hobie Cats.
